Drawn for Dr. Thomas Holtz. Had to photograph this one as it was too large to scan.

Yes, the feather colors are extremely implausible. They are based on Luis Rey's caricature of Dr. Holtz as a tyrannosaurid in Dr. Holtz's encyclopedia. (In fact, entirely coincidentally, the palette reminds me of that of Pinkie Pie, with a lot more blue. As it happens, I don't find it difficult to imagine Dr. Holtz as a downplayed, more intellectual Pinkie Pie, constantly upbeat and enthusiastic during his lectures even despite certain recent events. And he's got the curly hair down too!)

Dr. Holtz? No, he's alive and well (or as well as he can be under these circumstances at least), otherwise I wouldn't have been able to give him this picture and would probably be even more distraught!

However, his father (Thomas Holtz, Sr.) passed away recently. :(

Aye, it was saddening to hear what happened. I drew his dad riding a tyrannosaur for him, haven't shown it to him yet.

Out of curiosity, why the ankylosaur on the moon?

As for Holtz, I too am sorry for his loss. Been there. :(

As a child Holtz assigned his family members dinosaur (and other prehistoric animal) identities. His father was an Ankylosaurus.

I've done that too (assigning family members dinosaur identities I mean).

And I get this now, shame.

It was very kind of you to do this for him. :)
I too heard about what happened, and I can only imagine how Dr. Holtz is feeling right now.
What did he say about the drawing?

He didn't say much, but he was quite appreciative. More than good enough for me. :)
